Away rotations are generally 4 weeks in length and are completed at an outside institution. They allow you to audition at a residency program where you may want to match. EM residency directors want to see that you are competent and work well with others in their department as being a team player is a critical aspect of a successful EM candidate. In addition, these rotations allow you obtain the SLOEs (Standard Letter Of Evaluation) that are necessary for your application.
We are working to put together a comprehensive guide to finding, securing, and succeeding in away rotations. Please visit EMRA MATCH for more program information.
