Welcome to the Oroville City Elementary School District Band Program. This page is designed to provide incoming 6th graders (and 7/8th graders who were never in the band) information about Bands at both The Studios@Central and Ishi Hills Middle School.

Frequently Asked Questions:
Q. Do I need previous experience to join band?
A. Not at all! You do not need any previous experience in reading music or playing an instrument. Majority of students have not played any musical instruments before. However, previous experience will help you succeed in band.
Q. Does it cost anything?
A. Currently, there is no participation fee or instrument rental fee. Students can use the district instrument for free after learning how to take care of the instrument and signing the agreement form. If there is a major damage on the instrument, the parent/guardian needs to pay for the repair.
Q. When can I join?
A. Students can only join at the beginning of the school year (until around the beginning of September). After the sign-up period, students will not be able to join.
Q. What are some performances for the beginning band?
A. Students will participate in the District Fall Concert (Mid to End of October), Winter Band Concert (Mid December at the State Theatre) and District Spring Band Concert (End of March to Beginning of April/before the Spring break at the State Theatre). There may be 1 or 2 more on-campus performances which will be communicated to the parents/guardians.
