OCEANS Academy: Where Learning Meets Adventure!

Outdoor Charter for Environmental Arts and Natural Sciences (OCEANS) Academy is a new charter high school in Anchorage, Alaska, serving students in grades 9–12. We’re reimagining what high school can be by bringing learning to life through exploration, creativity, hands-on experiences, and real-world discovery! 

At OCEANS Academy, learning goes beyond the classroom. By combining Project-Based Learning (PBL), Experiential Education, and STEM-focused instruction, students are encouraged to ask big questions, think creatively, tackle meaningful challenges, and discover how their learning connects to the world around them. With a strong focus on environmental stewardship and college, career, and life readiness, students gain the knowledge, skills, and confidence to shape their own futures.

Our curriculum invites students to explore the natural world, investigate real-world issues, collaborate with others, and turn ideas into action. Through hands-on projects, outdoor exploration, and engaging learning experiences, students develop critical thinking, problem-solving, resilience, and leadership skills while building a deeper appreciation for the environment and their communities.

At OCEANS Academy, education is an adventure with purpose. We’re preparing students not just to graduate, but to thrive, to pursue their passions, navigate challenges, embrace new opportunities, and make a positive difference in their communities and beyond.
