OCEANS Academy has submitted our charter applications and received ASD school board approval on February 3rd, 2026. We will be going before the state board of education in the fall and will open for the 2027-2028 school year. Please contact us at OceansAcademyAK@gmail.com if you are interested in hearing more.

Outdoor Charter for Environmental Arts and Natural Sciences (OCEANS) Academy is a new proposed charter high school serving grades 9 through 12 in Anchorage, offering a distinctive educational alternative to traditional public school options. OCEANS Academy integrates three primary educational philosophies: Project-Based Learning (PBL), Experiential Education, and STEM-focused instruction, while emphasizing environmental stewardship and college, career, and life readiness. OCEANS Academies is designed to prepare students to engage with complex real-world issues, collaborate effectively, and emerge as confident, resilient leaders.

Oceans Academy’s curriculum encourages students to explore meaningful questions and solve problems through hands-on learning and outdoor exploration, ensuring that education is both relevant and transformative. By combining academic rigor with experiential learning, we aim to develop students who are not only prepared for higher education and careers but also equipped to make a positive impact in their communities and the world.
