According to Sea Turtle Conservancy, "over 1 million marine animals (including mammals, fish, sharks, turtles, and birds) are killed each year due to plastic debris in the ocean". (Source 4). As a high school team with a professional scuba diver, we've seen firsthand the damage to the oceanic ecosystems. After looking for some of the leading causes of the overabundance of waste, we saw a trend: most waste in the ocean is generated from a lack of awareness and effort among citizens. Therefore, our main goal is to educate and raise awareness in the general populous, starting with the younger audiences.
Hence we created. . .
We created an educational game called Ocean Knights that will teach younger audiences about the nuances of ocean life and the value of environmental stewardship. Throughout the interactive game, children follow Coral the Explorer on an adventure to stop the mayor from further polluting the beautiful beach and sea. Along the way, kids are exposed to answer recycling trivia, understand the values of recycling, and correctly identify how to recycle.
A robotic machine shaped like a shark that cleans up the ocean one piece at a time. With this new cutting-edge technology, users can use the shark to pick up underwater waste, leading to a healthier oceanic ecosystem.
