OCAEM Programs
OCAEM offers mentorship opportunities to support your growth and answer questions throughout the year.
The Principals' Breakfast is a great opportunity to celebrate the partnership between the media specialist and their administrator. This event has several purposes, the first being to keep the principals abreast of new research and statistics that effect library media centers and student learning. At the breakfast, we also present an award to two principals who demonstrate outstanding leadership and support of library media programs. We also recognize our own library media specialists for innovative programs happening in their media centers.
The Orange County Student Media Festival allows students of all ages to share their creativity. Festival entries may be produced by an individual, group, class, or club. Awards will be made in four grade classifications: K-2, 3-5, 6-8, and 9-12 for each category. Students can enter media in the following categories:
animation
book trailers
comedy
documentary
drama
instructional
music
news feature
news show
public service video
Orange County winners will go on to compete at the state level.
Celebrating the outstanding individuals who elevate our school media programs, OCAEM honors excellence across all levels. From dedicated media clerks to visionary specialists, we shine a spotlight on those who go above and beyond to foster literacy, innovation, and collaboration in our libraries.
Each year, OCAEM proudly hosts a heartfelt retirement celebration to honor media professionals who’ve dedicated their careers to enriching Florida’s school libraries. The event shines a spotlight on each retiree’s unique contributions, creating space for reflection, recognition, and warm memories. It’s our way of saying thank you—and celebrating the legacy they leave behind.
Each year, OCAEM creates a beautiful basket to donate for the FAME Basket fundraiser. If you have not been to FAME, you need to go and definitely buy tickets for the basket drawing!
Our theme this year is “Choose Your Own Adventure”, with one side being PINK colored comfort related items and the other GREEN “thrill seeker” items. We are accepting donations to purchase items for the basket, or new items themselves. If you are able and willing, we would love your support. Any bit helps! If you would like to send cash or a check, you can courier to Sharon Powers at Lake Nona Middle School.
