Clinicians with established experience in OAT prescribing can consider becoming a POATSP Preceptor once they meet preceptor eligibility requirements (listed below). Preceptors play an important role in mentoring new learners, sharing real-world clinical insights, and strengthening high-quality OAT care across British Columbia. At this time, only MDs/NPs are eligible to become a POATSP preceptor.
At least 3 years’ experience prescribing all oral OAT
A minimum of 20 clients on OAT
A practice that includes routine inductions with all approved oral OAT medications
Capacity to host learners in a clinic setting and an interest in teaching
Clinical practice aligned with BCCSU Provincial Guidelines and related guidance
