I Prayers
Parents: Besides the Sacraments, praying is an important
and integral part of the Christian lifestyle. Without prayer the soul becomes weakened. The grace received in the sacraments are a constant invitation from God to be united to the soul which must be answered continually. This invitation is answered by the soul throughout the day with a devotion to prayer.[1] God is asking for a few minutes every morning, mid-day and evening.
Student: Prayer is talking to God and listening in your
hearts to see what he wants you to do. You speak with God when you pray. Learning to pray and praying everyday is important because God listens all the time. God has given you and everyone the important gift of life and many other gifts. When you pray it becomes a way to thank God and ask for help and guidance.
It is important to learn about Jesus. Jesus is God who came down to Earth to help all people. He wants to be your friend. When Jesus was here, he had many followers. His closest followers were called Apostles and Disciples. Once He told them that with faith they could move mountains.[2] Faith is trusting in God. One way to show your faith in God is to Pray.

[1] Acts 1:17
[2] Matthew 17:20
Prayer is lifting our minds and hearts to God; a conversation with God.
Prayer for Christians is a gift from God which allows you to approach Him and have a relationship with Him. The idea of prayer can be simple. Suppose there is a new person at school and they walk over and starts talking with you. Soon you know a few things about them. Then you meet them again at school or some other public place and talk more and more. Soon you become friends. When friends get together, they talk about many things.
Well, it is very much the same with God because God wants to be your friend. But he wants to be more than a friend. He wants to help you become Holy so you can get to heaven. No other friend can get you into heaven, only God can. So, he must be a wonderful friend to have for your entire life.
How do we talk with God. We talk to God through Prayer!
How do we get closer to God? We get closer to God through the sacraments!
