Student Information/Learning Agreement - Construction
You are about to embark on a challenging programme of study, one which should enhance your knowledge and understanding of health and safety management as well as your professional status.
This is an intense learning programme, and requires your total commitment to learning both in and out of the classroom. You will be asked to sign a learning agreement on day one of the course, which commits you to full participation towards your learning.

Pre-Course Reading
In order to assist you in preparation for the course, we will send you your approved NEBOSH course books for the first course and email you a copy of the current syllabus with some pre-course questions, assisting in familiarising yourself with the course book and terminology used. This pre-course activity is not a compulsory requirement, but it will enable you to gain an understanding for the level of information required for this qualification
Study materials
We will provide you with a textbook, handbook and practice examination questions. plus appropriate stationery, paper, pens, highlighters, sticky notes, if you want to bring your own writing equipment/aids and laptop to assist you, that is also fine.
Assessment
Verification of identity
NEBOSH requires learners to verify their identity. A learner who does not verify their identity will not be allowed to sit the examinations.
To verify your identity, please bring some photo ID, acceptable evidence from the list below and show them to your tutor. All evidence must be supplied as original documents. No photocopies or electronic images will be accepted.

This qualification is assessed with an Open Book Exam (OBE) Unit NC1. This OBE covers content based on all 13 elements and provides a workplace-based scenario to refer to as you work through your exam questions.
During the OBE, learners are able to use their own materials such as course notes, study books, the HSE website, and other research to help them in answering the questions.
The OBE is conducted over a period of 48 hours. It is intended that you will use your time during this period to research, plan and fully answer your questions, whilst also providing the flexibility to take breaks.
Language requirements
Assessments are available in English only.
The standard of English required by candidates studying the NEBOSH Certificate must be such that they can both understand and articulate the concepts contained in the syllabus.
NEBOSH recommends that non-native speakers undertaking this qualification should have a minimum standard of English equivalent to an International English Language Testing System (IELTS) score of 7.0 or higher in IELTS tests in order to be accepted on to the NEBOSH Certificate programme. Assessment registration and fees
Assessments are booked and paid for by the Oak Tree NEBOSH Administrator. If you wish to amend an assessment booking, please contact us on 01284 763040.
Examination transfers are subject to availability and may incur additional fees.
Revision
You will need to spend at least 48 hours revising for your written examinations. You will be given advice on how to revise effectively during your course attendance. We suggest 2 hours’ revision per day for 24 days. This means that revision needs to start on the first day of the course.
To assist with this, we will issue ‘homework’ questions each day, these will be reviewed and feedback given on a daily basis.

Provide or direct you to all the information you need to pass the qualification
Provide you with expert advice on revision and examination technique
Give you feedback on how you are studying and answering subject related question, to offer support as required
Respond in a timely manner to any queries
Be diligent, courteous and professional at all times.
You must:
Attend all scheduled classroom sessions
Contribute to classroom activities in a positive manner
Try to be active, rather than passive within the training days
Complete two hours of homework each night while on the course
Complete the required number of revision hours
Pay particular attention to advice regarding revision and examination technique
Bring any learning difficulties to our attention at the earliest opportunity.
