ATTENDANCE
PLUS REGISTRATION & ROLL KEEPING
We welcome to Institute all young adults who are 18-35 years of age.
We love when young adults choose to gather together at Institute. Please make all young adults feel welcome to come.
We also invite all young adults to gain course credit - to complete the Attendance, Readings, and Assessment requirements. We know they have much to gain by doing so. See the page "Promises of a Prophet" for the blessings that come from taking part in Institute.
For those who just want to attend and not work towards course credit, that is fine. We are grateful that they come. If they choose not to put their name on the roll, please just include them in the Total Present head count for each class.
Students need to attend at least 75% of the classes to gain Course Credit.
Please note - they must also complete their Readings and an Assessment to gain Course Credit. See the other pages on this website for more information.
If students did not reach 75% attendance, and they would like to complete the course, they have the option of doing Makeup lessons. Click here to go to the Makeup lessons section.
All students must REGISTER for Institute.
They do this on the website: myInstitute.churchofjesuschrist.org They Sign In using their Church username and password, then follow the prompts.
Teachers can see on WISE who has not registered for Institute. Those students who haven't will have this red icon - shown beside or below this sentance - by their name on the class's summary page.
If students do not want to register online, they can complete a paper registration. This is then given to the teacher who forwards it to the Stake Supervisor or Administrative Assistant.
Teachers mark attendance on the website program WISE.
The website address is wise2.churchofjesuschrist.org You will need to sign in with your church Username and Password.
Your Stake Supervisor or Administrative Assistant will help set your class up on WISE. Please send them a photo of the roll after the first week. If students join after the first week - please forward their names so they can be added also.
We love attendance to be marked WEEKLY 😍
If it is missing two weeks or more - WISE starts to generate error reports 😬 To avoid this, your Adminstrative Assistant may have to mark all outstanding attendance as absent. You will need to enter the correct attendance as soon as possible.
Note - WISE is easiest to use on a computer or iPad. It is difficult to use on a cell phone.
Watch out for a short video on Marking Attendance on WISE. (Video to be uploaded in February 2024)
Please keep a paper class roll. Students who record their name on the roll have their Attendance entered into WISE. Even if they are not working for Course Credit, it is good to record their attendance in case they change their mind. Your Administrative Assistant can provide you with a class roll or you can print the attachment below.
Note: As well as marking on your roll the registered the students who are present - you record the "Total Present". This is the total number of people who attended the class. It might include missionaries, visitors, and those who do not want their name on the roll (see the section below "Course Credit vs Just Attending).
It is wise to create a class contact list. The contact information available to teachers on the Church website is limited to what students have entered. It is often not up to date. To be able to contact your students by email or text, we recommend you take a form students can complete that you can keep. Please remember their contact information is confidential and only to be used for your Institute class. An example of a class list is below. It has a wide left-hand side margin for attaching to a clipboard.
Below is a guide as to which students to enrol on WISE and
who to include in the “Total Present” box.
