Funded by generous support from the AMC and the NYU Office of Civic Engagement, the Naughty Knitters have donated over 13,000 baby blankets, hats, scarves, and other items to local charities since its founding in 2004. We meet weekly to craft various items for charitable organizations including Care for the Homeless, NYC Department of Homeless Services, Visiting Neighbors, and more.
We provide knitting and crocheting supplies for our members. Both experienced and novice knitters and crocheters are welcome. If you would like to learn to knit or crochet or to reawaken dormant skills, we would love for you to join us in our mission of spreading warmth and love through friendship and yarn.
Naughty Knitter NYU Affiliate Groups
Our core group meets weekly only on Fridays in the Washington Mews. This is not necessarily convenient for many in various NYU departments and different areas of NYC. In that end we have reached out to our colleagues to form Affiliate Groups that would meet at a convenient time and day for their local colleagues. We are gratified by the response we have received. Several areas are in the process of determining when they might meet as well as how best to coordinate providing supplies or accepting completed items on the NK Current Projects and especially our current Concentration list at the top of that page. To find out more, navigate to the Affiliate Groups Around Campus on the top of this page.
