Learning Technology Grant

Careers in science, technology, engineering, art and math (STEAM) fields continue to grow making it essential for accessibility to equitable learning opportunities for all students to benefit. This is why, through the Learning Technology Grant, Community School Districts 8 and 9 adopted FaceLab, an exemplary, high quality college and career readiness school program of the Division of Family and Community Engagement (FACE) of the New York City Department of Education (NYCDOE). FaceLab is designed to increase the collaboration between parents and educators in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math (STEAM) education. FaceLab achieves this by training teachers and parents in K-8 schools to lead hands-on robotics and engineering activities with students. Over the three years of the Learning Technology Grant, FaceLab partners introduced three STEAM curriculums to New York City classrooms, including one that was developed by NYCDOE school teachers with parents and another, created with the contributions of NYCDOE CSD 8 teachers. The program was also brought online during the pandemic. NYCDOE Districts 8 and 9 and NYCDOE FACE are proud to share our STEAM education resources with you.
