In New York City, two-thirds of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions come from powering buildings. Under the OneNYC plan, the City set a goal to reduce emissions 100% by 2050 from a 2005 baseline.
NYC Public Schools play a significant role in reaching these critical goals: we have over 1,500 school buildings! We reduce our emissions through operations and maintenance, deep energy retrofits, efficiency projects, renewable energy projects (e.g. solar), and education targeting behavioral change and awareness.
