The material contained in the Paradise Garage collection were donated by the NYC LGBT Historic Sites project. Paradise Garage officially opened in 1978 as a semi underground membership only nightclub that featured resident DJ Larry Levan. The sound system - built by Richard Long - was one of the best in the world, winning Billboard's International Disco Forum's Best Disco Sound System.

LARRY LEVAN
Larry Levan was Paradise Garage's resident DJ. He DJ'd at the club for a decade - his following referred to his sets as "Saturday Mass."
SHARON WHITE
Sharon White was Paradise Garage's only female DJ.
