Citywide Instructional Expectations for Mathematics

Coordinated Supports for All Learners

Fundamental to meeting the individual and collective needs of any diverse learning community is a well-coordinated Multi-tiered System of Supports grounded in inclusive Tier 1 instruction that is strategically monitored and supported by multiple levels of data-based intervention.

Student-Centered and Inclusive Pedagogy in Mathematics

At the heart of culturally responsive and sustaining mathematics education is the understanding that when educators leverage the cultural, racial, historical, linguistic, and individual identities of students, then learning mathematics can be more effective, relevant, and enduring.

Implementation of High Quality Instructional Materials

High-quality instructional materials that are research-based, field-tested, aligned to standards, and student-centered are the foundation on which teachers design a meaningful and rigorous learning environment for their students.
