Preparing and promoting
women into leadership roles in local government.
Strengthen local government by achieving a gender-balanced leadership team.
To prepare and promote women into leadership roles in local government, especially as City
Managers/Administrators.
The Northwest Women’s Leadership Academy exists to elevate women in local government by preparing them for executive leadership roles and cultivating a statewide network of support. We believe that when women lead, communities thrive. Our purpose is twofold:
• Empower individual advancement by equipping women with the skills, confidence, and connections to pursue top-level positions in public service.
• Strengthen organizations by promoting gender-balanced leadership teams that reflect the diversity, resilience, and innovation our communities deserve.
Through mentorship, professional development, and peer collaboration, NWWLA is building a future where leadership is inclusive, representative, and transformational.
Competency
Provide opportunities for women from diverse backgrounds and experiences to obtain the core skills necessary to move into local government leadership roles.
Confidence
Provide opportunities to enhance skills and competencies and build confidence.
Professional Network
Provide opportunities to expand professional connections and build a support network.
We thank these and the MANY MORE who make this possible including the thirty local governments who are home to our cohort members and their champions and sponsors!
Thank you!
