  • Need a low-cost breading? Crush up pork rinds (gluten free) or saltines and mix in spices.

  • Rice and pasta are easily substituted with each other. If you're thinking a dish needs noodles but don't have them on hand, rice should work just fine

  • Keep greens good for longer! Store greens in water (like you would flowers) in the fridge to keep them from wilting as quickly

  • Need some sauce or flavor? Next time you make a purchase at a gas station, grab a couple packets of sauce to make meals tastier

  • Want to make your food last? Save liquid drained from veggies to use for cooking rice or noodles

baking substitutions

APPLESAUCE

Use applesauce as a substitute for oil. Same measurements and everything!

Applesauce is also a fine substitute for eggs in most baking recipes. Sub 1/3 cup applesauce per egg.

PORK RINDS

Use crushed pork rinds as breading for vegetables and meats or to mix into veggie burgers/meatballs, then bake or fry.
