The nutrition and bone health laboratory, headed by Dr. Kunal Sharan, is interested in understanding the molecular and cellular basis for the modulation of bone mass by food-derived molecules. Dr. Sharan's team uses rodent models, cellular and molecular techniques as tools to study the role of nutrition in the regulation of bone metabolism.
About the PI
Dr. Kunal Sharan graduated from CSIR-Central Drug Research Institute, Lucknow, India with a Ph.D. in Life Sciences in 2011. He did a postdoc from Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute, Cambridge (2011-2014). At CSIR-CFTRI, Mysore Dr. Sharan's lab is engaged in research projects related to the role of nutrition in the programming, growth, maintenance, and metabolism of the skeleton.Â
