Most research interest me to be honest. But if you are looking for a MSc or PhD supervisor, the following is the research domain that I am interested in.

Speech Synthesis a.k.a. Text-to-Speech (TTS) System a.k.a. Speech Generation

Research related to synthesising speech or the front-end or the back-end component. The possibility is too many.

Polyglot Speech Synthesis.

Polyglot can be loosely defined as multilingual but they are not the same. If you are a polyglot speaker, you have already learnt to speak in one language (your mother's tongue) and then learn and perfecting a second language with time. If you are a multilingual speaker, you are exposed to speaking two or more different languages before you learn to speak and continue doing so and thus perfecting the languages in paralel. Polyglot synthesis research is very usefull for resource poor languages.

Study in Resource Poor Languages

Is your language is a resource poor language? A language may be spoken accros several countries but it is still a resource poor language. On the other hand, a language may be spoken by only minority race in a district but due to the rigorous documentation until it become a well described language, it is not a resource poor language, just a minority language. In fact, in Malaysia, we have so many isolect that I would seriously welcome you to describe your language. But let me tell you early - the questions are sometime too easy and too unpredictable and yet too many you might want to throttle me. Sorry. Just kidding. Honestly, if you feel to much, you can always ask to stop. Unless, of course, it is for a grant, we still need to finish it up on a diferent day.
