A VISIT WITH CONNIE WEAVER

On April 12, 2023,  I had the opportunity to visit with Connie Weaver to learn more about our church's history. Connie's enthusiasm and memories helped me better understand and appreciate our church's early days and the challenges our founding members faced -- they did a lot of fundraising! One thing that struck me was the sense of community and togetherness that continues to this day. Gathering around the table to share meals has been a valued tradition in our church. Our founding members recognized the importance of coming together to break bread and share stories; this tradition has been carried on through the generations. These meals have been a way for members to connect with one another, share their joys and sorrows, and support one another through good times and bad. This sense of connection and shared purpose has been at the heart of our church's identity. As I reflect on our conversation, I am reminded of the importance of learning about our history and the lessons that it can teach us. By understanding where we come from and the challenges that our forebears faced, we can better appreciate the blessings that we enjoy today and the responsibilities that we have to carry on their legacy. I look forward to sharing more about our church's history in the Northville UPC Cookbook.
