Nuno Pessanha Santos holds a Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Instituto Superior Técnico, University of Lisbon. He also holds an integrated Master’s degree in Naval Military Sciences with a specialization in Weapons and Electronics Engineering from the Portuguese Naval Academy in Alfeite, Portugal, as well as a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering with a specialization in Automation and Industrial Electronics from the Higher Institute of Engineering of Lisbon. He served for approximately eighteen years as a Weapons and Electronics Engineer in the Portuguese Navy, performing various duties both onboard ships and on land, ranging from maintenance to project work, research, and development. He also worked as a military professor at the Portuguese Naval Academy. He is currently an Assistant Professor at the Portuguese Military Academy and an active researcher. His primary research interests include computer vision applications, machine learning, motion estimation, and algorithm design applied to advanced robotics.
