Co-Director

Josh Jerisha

Hello! My name is Josh Jerisha, and I am Co-Director for CHC. Here at Northwestern, I am a senior studying Neuroscience, Science in Human Culture, and Data Science on the pre-med track. I have long believed that health equity is most effective when pursued locally, in the context of the unique needs of a given community. These values led me to join CHC as a freshman. During my time with this organization, I have served as the Treasurer, a newsletter writer, and an Evanston Public Library volunteer. Outside of CHC, I am involved with hospice volunteering and research on the structural biology of Alzheimer’s Disease. In my free time, I am a fan stand up comedy, biking, and the NBA.

Sophia Huang

Hi, my name is Sophia and I am excited to continue working as CHC’s Co-Director! I’m a junior majoring in sociology and global health. I joined CHC as a freshman because I wanted to get involved with organizations in Evanston to promote health equity. As the Co-Director, I have continued doing that, working with organizations on projects focused on increasing health information. Given the health inequality in the US, I believe that it is important to collaborate with community organizations to improve access to resources relating to health and healthcare. Outside of school, I’m on the synchronized figure skating team, involved with social science research, and love spending time with friends.

RED CROSS TRAINING COORDINATOR

Jason ChenHi! My name is Jason Chen (he/him), and I am a Co-Director of health projects. I am a second-year student majoring in Data Science and Global Health on the pre-med track. As Northwestern students, we have access to so many resources that help us maintain our health and overall well-being. I decided to join CHC because the CHC community does not take these resources for granted, and reaches out to the larger Evanston community to help better the health and wellbeing of others. This mission is especially important as many individuals in Chicago and Evanston suffer from a multitude of health disparities. I was a former Co-Director of Health Projects, which partners with community health organizations in the Evanston/Chicago community and collaborates on health outreach projects with them. This year, I am excited to build more partnerships with Chicagoland organizations and conduct more accessible and informative Red Cross Trainings.

DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC RELATIONS

Pooja KrishnanHi, my name is Pooja Krishnan, and I am CHC’s Director of Public Relations. I’m a second-year majoring in Neuroscience and minoring in Business Institutions on the pre-med track. As the PR Director, I run our website/social media, and I am editor of CHC’s monthly newsletter: Public Health Pulse. I joined CHC during my Freshman year, hoping to be a part of an organization that serves the health needs of underprivileged local communities. I have served on various CHC committees with the overarching goal of providing various health services/resources to increase health equity in our community. I am grateful that this organization has given me a platform to be able to give back to the community, while also fostering a shared interest in public health efforts.

TREASURER

Eric MunHi! My name is Eric Mun, and I am the Treasurer for CHC. I’m a first-year majoring in Biology on the pre-med track. Joining CHC as a freshman, I believe that promoting health equity can be accomplished in a variety of ways, whether it be through the dissemination of health ihnformation or making resources available to surrounding communities. I have served on both the Health Projects and Red Cross committees in hopes of being able to contribute to the club's vision the best I can. As the Treasurer, I will be responsible for organizing financial transactions, applying for grants, and processing SOFO payments. In addition to CHC, I manage funds for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, am a Round Lake High School Chair for Project Med, and will serve as a Peer Advisor for the upcoming Class of 2028.

EVENTS

Hi! I’m Mia Gleason, and I'm CHC’s Events Coordinator for the 2024-2054 year. I’m from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and I’m a junior studying Biological Sciences and Global Health. I joined CHC as a first-year hoping to become more involved with the Evanston community and to learn more about public health initiatives. Being able to discuss health inequalities with a passionate group has become a driving force behind my enthusiasm for public health. As the Events Coordinator, I organize community-building events, as well as events focusing on spreading knowledge about public health and related careers. In addition to CHC, I work for an immunology lab in Feinberg School of Medicine and am co-President of the Undergraduate German Advisory Board.

CO-DIRECTOR OF HEALTH PROJECTS

Hi! My name is Samuel Richardson and I am a co-director of health projects. I am a second-year student from Cleveland, Ohio studying Chemistry and Arabic on the pre-med track. Through interacting with different communities during high school and my first year at Northwestern and by navigating the health world myself, I realized that even with thousands of health-related websites, finding knowledgeable health information was still difficult. I decided to join CHC so that I could make understandable, accurate, and relevant information available to the surrounding Evanston and Chicago communities. Over the last few years, this goal has been especially prevalent with the emergence of COVID-19. During the pandemic, COVID-19 was often confused with the common cold, sinus infections, and the flu, and there was not enough digestible information for many people to better understand their illnesses. Recently, we have worked toward this goal by publishing information in the form of videos, posters, and pamphlets through Erie Health. Currently, I am working on establishing a partnership with nearby Evanston Township High School (ETHS). At ETHS, we hope to work with their health sciences program and Northshore student health center to better make information accessible to students.

CO-DIRECTOR OF HEALTH PROJECTS

Hi, my name is Samantha Radinsky and I am one of CHC’s directors of health projects! I am a Junior majoring in Neuroscience and Global Health on the pre-med track. I have a passion for health care equity and feel that as Northwestern students interested in medicine, we must take an active role in helping to solve health care inequity in any way that we can. I am excited to work with CHC, our connected organizations, and the members of the Evanston and Skokie communities. I am excited to continue my role as we start up new partnerships and projects. Aside from CHC, I am a part of the Northwestern University Marching Band, the club softball team, and the Northwestern Emergency Medical Organization.

VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR

Hi! My name is Kate and I'm CHC's Volunteer Coordinator. I am a third year student majoring in Neuroscience and Global Health on the pre-med track. It is incredibly important to be able to access health information which is why I am excited to be the coordinator this year. I help organize volunteer sessions at the Robert Crown Community Center Health Desk and update the Evanston Public Library information booth. I work to ensure materials are up to date and help coordinate between volunteers at the desk and community center administrators. I have a strong interest in medical communications and feel as students we must help connect people to resources in our community. I hope to help as many people get access to health information and to buikd a useful resource for the Evanston community.
