The Red Cross Training Initiative: Working to create an extensive network of emergency response trained community members.
Starting in the Spring of 2017, the Red Cross Training Initiative built a team of CPR and First Aid Medicine trained Northwestern students. Through a partnership with AmeriCorps, these students train Northwestern and Chicagoland community members through free and reduced priced classes, respectively.

Evanston Public Library:
Any person is eligible for certification
No prior payments, materials, or online classes are necessary
Must fully attend, participate, and master skills in sessions to ensure certification
Sessions are two consecutive days with a 3 hour block each day
Sessions include mandatory hands-on practice scenarios

Northwestern Evanston Campus:
Any person/organization is eligible for certification
Reduced fee of $27 per person
Must complete and prove certification for the supplementary online classes prior to the start of the in-person training
No prior materials are necessary
Must fully attend, participate, and master skills in sessions to ensure certification
Sessions are only one day lasting approximately 2-3 hours
Sessions include mandatory hands-on practice scenarios
Trainings are offered during Saturday and Sunday sessions at the Evanston Public Library.
Trainings at the Northwestern Evanston Campus are offered on a rolling basis; we accommodate to your schedule.
Group and Individual sign ups are available for both locations.

A training session costs the reduced fee of $27 per person. If cost is a barrier, communicate with us in advance, as there are potential coverage opporunities.
