The North Tyne and Redesdale Benefice magazine, The Meeting of the Waters, gives details of events as known at the date of publication (about a week before the distribution of the magazine, which is is published each month from February to December (the December also covers January). Free delivery to subscribers with addresses within the parishes of the Benefice. Copies of recent issues are available (free to visitors) in most of the North Tyne and Redesdale churches.

This year in the Deanery there are a range of opportunities to follow during Lent as we journey towards the Cross and beyond

There are Lent talks on the Northern Saints on a Thursday afternoon in Bellingham run by the Churches Together Group in Bellingham ( further details elsewhere in the magazine.

There is also the opportunity to join a discussion Group where we will be looking at the Nicene Creed - the creed that all of our churches can use - and in addition reflecting upon some poems collected for Lent by the author Janet Morley.

There will be two ecumenical discussion groups, one based in Wark on a Monday evening - starting on 23rd February and one based in Gunnerton, on Monday and Tuesday afternoons starting also on 23rd February. As Broadband and Free Wifi has just been fitted at Gunnerton we can now offer a Hybrid Group if folk would like to join in but prefer not to travel.

There will be a Lent lunch on March 3rd in Bellingham MURC where all are invited to share a favourite poem over a simple lunch of jacket potato with filling

Lent talks start on Thursday 5th March from 3.30 – 4.30 p.m. in the Reed Hall. The topic will be the Northern Saints (Oswald, Aidan, Cuthbert and Bede).

Friday 6th March is the World Day of Prayer and there is an Ecumenical Service at St Oswald’s RC Church at 7 p.m. followed by refreshments.

The March magazine is available now. Subscriptions for the year are also due if you haven’t paid yet. This is £7 per year if you receive a printed copy.

6th March is the World Day of Prayer. The World Day of Prayer services, is, this year written by the Christian women of Nigeria.

There will be a service at 10.30am in St Peter's Humshaugh .
In Bellingham the service will be at St. Oswald’s at 7pm, with refreshments afterwards.

Everyone is welcome to both services on this important day.

The Lent Groups continue. The Online Lent group is on a Tuesday Evening studying the book Wardrobes and Rings - for more details and the Zoom code please contact Marie Ness .

There are two in-person groups looking at the Nicene Creed and some poetry - one in Wark at the home of Vicky at 7.00pm on a Monday evening.

The other Group, which is Hybrid is at 3.00pm this Tuesday 3rd of March. As the church at Gunnerton is booked for another meeting this week we will be at the Vicarage at Chollerton . We will be looking this week at the second part of the Nicene Creed , about Jesus Christ.
