Our Lab member, Bo-Yan Sung and Chun-Cheng Wang, along with our professor Hedy Yang, presented their great work on Fatigue Behavior and Hotspot Analysis of Dynamic Cables in Floating Offshore Wind Turbines at the 47th Ocean Engineering Conference and International Energy Workshop, National Chung Hsing University, November 2025.

On the afternoon of November 24, our laboratory hosted an academic research exchange attended by faculty members from the department, visiting scholars from abroad, as well as members from our laboratory and other laboratories. The session featured research presentations and focused discussions, providing an opportunity for participants to exchange views on various topics and gain insights from different academic perspectives.

Our lab member, Hsin-Yi Wang, together with our professor, Hedy Yang, presented their excellent work titled “Motion Analysis of a Substructure and Conceptual Design for a Mooring System of 15 MW in the Southwest Sea of Korea” at the Global JDP WindTech-15MW International Technical Symposium, held at Mokpo National University, Korea, from November 9 to 13, 2025. 

During the symposium, Professor Hedy Yang also introduced the overall research focus and development direction of our laboratory, highlighting our ongoing work on mooring and power cables, offshore platforms, and marine energy systems.

Our Lab member, Chun-Hsiang Huang, along with our professor Hedy Yang, presented their great work on Study on fatigue behavior of HMPE synthetic fiber ropes and development of accelerated fatigue methods at the 37th China ship building and marine engineering seminar hosted at our own department at National Taiwan University, Taipei, ROC(Taiwan), 15th ~ 16th March 2025.

Our professor Hedy Yang was awarded the best paper for her paper Innovative development and research of offshore floating wind-wave dual-energy power generation system at the Taiwan Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers 53rd, 2nd members representative conference, At National Taiwan University, Taipei, ROC(Taiwan), 15th March 2025.

Our Lab member, Bo-Yan Sung and Ze-Sheng Wu, received the Excellent Poster Award at the 112 Annual Project Achievement Conference of the NSTC Department of Ocean and Naval Architecture Engineering in Taipei, Taiwan 15th March 2025.

Our Lab member, Ren-Jie Liu, along with our professor Hedy Yang, presented their great work on Ultimate Strength and Fatigue Analysis of a Dynamic Cable for a Floating Offshore Wind Turbine at the 1st Asia Pacific Conference on Offshore Wind Technology in Fukuoka, Japan, 25th-27th November 2024.

Our Lab member, Ren-Jie Liu, along with our professor Hedy Yang, presented their great work on Ultimate Strength and Fatigue Analysis of Dynamic Cables for Floating Offshore Wind Turbines at the 46th Ocean Engineering Conference in Tainan, ROC(Taiwan), 21st-22nd November 2024.

Our Lab member, Yu-Wen Hung, along with our professor Hedy Yang, presented their great work on Development and Application of Structural Analysis Methods for Floating Platform at the 7th Asian Offshore Wind, Wave and Tidal Energy Conference in Busan, South Korea, 20th-24th October 2024.

Our Lab members won the merit award for their great research, Po-Chuan Mao, Yu-Wen Hung, Weng-Cheng Su, and Ren-Jie Liu for the research 'Safety and economic analysis for floating offshore wind turbines' and Ting-Li Lin for the research 'Feasibility study of installing buoyancy energy storage systems in potential floating offshore wind farms in Taiwan'.

Our Lab members, Jun-Hui Huang, along with our professor Hedy Yang, presented their great work on dynamic simulation procedure of mooring systems for a floating offshore wind turbine at the 43rd International Conference on Ocean, Offshore & Artic Engineering in Singapore, 10th-13th June 2024. 

Our Lab members, Wei-Cheng Su, presented their great work on innovative development of offshore wind-wave energy systems for Taiwan at the Taiwan Society of Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering Conference 2024 at the National Kaohsiung University of Science and Technology in Kaohsiung, R.O.C.(Taiwan) 18th-19th May 2024. 

Our professor Hedy Yang has a cameo in the Discovery Channel's series Building Icons about the crane vessel Green Jade and Taiwan's offshore wind power. (available in English only)

Our Lab members, Yu-wen Hung and Wei-Cheng Su, presented their great work on structural analysis and wave energy conversion respectively at the Conference on Theoretical and Applied Mechanics 2023 in Yunlin, R.O.C.(Taiwan) 17th-18th November 2023.
