蔡孟勳教授於1988年獲得台灣大學機械工程系學士學位,1994年與1998年分別獲得美國賓州州立大學機械工程碩士和博士學位。1998年回國後,蔡教授任教於中正大學機械工程系,並於2014~2018年擔任中正大學先進工具機中心主任,推動工具機相關的產學合作,成果優異。
蔡教授於2018年轉任台大機械系擔任教授,並於2019升任特聘教授,2019-2021年擔任科技部自動化學門召集人,2021年接任台大智能機械研究中心主任。蔡教授過去發表了100多篇技術論文,包括CNC運動控制、機械手臂控制、馬達驅動器設計、人工智慧應用、壓電結構及控制與超音波檢測等。
蔡教授過去在產學方面的成果優異,並於2016年獲頒科技部產學類傑出研究獎,2013年獲頒機器同業公會機械業產學貢獻獎以及上銀碩士論文第一屆創作獎,2021年獲頒中國工程師學會傑出工程教授獎以及中國機械工程學會傑出工程教授獎,2022年獲得台灣區機器同業公會機械工業產學貢獻獎與台灣自動化學會會士。蔡教授指導多位學生獲得討研會最佳論文獎、上銀碩士論文獎、上銀智慧機械手競賽、精密工具機與自動化技術專題實作競賽以及CNC國產控制器應用創意組競賽等獎項。
