I hold an M.A. in Linguistics and a B.A. in Economics from National Taiwan University, with additional training in Neurobiology and Cognitive Science. My thesis examined the Nref effect’s sensitivity to referential load and the role of domain-general resources in working memory across modalities. My research interests include psycholinguistics and neuroscience, particularly referential processing, ambiguity, and working memory in language. During my master’s training, I gained experience conducting EEG/ERP experiments and assisting in neurolinguistics research. I also served as a teaching assistant for four semesters, mentoring over 20 students in experimental design and data analysis.

As human beings, we acquire and use language effortlessly in life despite its complexity. My research interests focus on cognitive and neural mechanisms of language learning and processing and how these mechanisms could be affected by individual variations and healthy aging.
Doctoral Student
Yuling Wei
I am currently a Ph.D. student at the Graduate Institute of Linguistics. I hold a Master of Science degree in Applied Linguistics and Second Language Acquisition from the University of Oxford, United Kingdom. My research interests encompass bilingualism and psycholinguistics. Currently, I am engaged in a project focusing on language learning and cognitive processes in older adults.
Doctoral Student

I first became intrigued by the complexity of Mandarin Chinese during a university exchange program in Germany, which led me to pursue the study of linguistics. After completing my MA in TCSL at NCCU and several years of teaching experience, I turned my interest now to how the human brain processes Mandarin Chinese, hoping through experimental design to uncover the underlying neural mechanisms hidden behind the language.
Master’s Student
Tsu-Yueh Hsu
I received a B.S. in psychology and a B.A. in foreign languages and literature at National Cheng Kung University. I’m currently studying how language influences our brain’s emotion processing of facial expressions with EEG/ERP experiments.
Master’s Student
Min-Peng Kuo
My research project focuses on the effect of aging on older adult language processing functions.
Master’s Student
Nianke Cai
As a master’s student in the Graduate Institute of Linguistics at National Taiwan University, my primary research interests lie in the fields of neurolinguistics and cognitive neuroscience. I am currently involved in a project exploring how aging affects novel word learning, with the ultimate goal of enhancing cognitive resilience and mitigating the risk of dementia in older adults.
Master’s Intern

To me, language is the closest thing to magic that humans possess. The process that people using language to translate abstract concepts or intentions into conversations is incredibly captivating.
My research interests focus on how language impacts social contexts and emotions. Over six years of continuous engagement with being a podcaster, I have explored and practiced the real-life pragmatic effects of language through extensive topic-based discussions, particularly how word choices or subtle lexical differences may influence discourse comprehension in social interactions.
Undergraduate Intern

I am an undergraduate student in the department of psychology at National Taiwan University. I’ve just started exploring the field of psycholinguistics, and I find it fascinating how people interpret language in different ways.
Undergraduate Student
Jacopo Minniti
I am an undergraduate student at Minerva University (San Francisco), majoring in AI & Mathematics with a minor in Neuroscience. My primary interest lies in understanding the brain through machines and improving machines through insights from the brain. In particular, I am interested in establishing a formal mapping between inductive biases in language models and the human language network.
