👋 Hello, I’m Po-Heng Chen (陳柏亨) from Taiwan.
I am a postdoctoral research fellow based in the Graduate Institute of Linguistics (GIL) at National Taiwan University (NTU), where I received my PhD under the mentorship of Dr. Chia-Lin Lee. Before entering NTU, I got my master's degree in the GIL at National Chengchi University (NCCU), where I accomplished my master's thesis under the supervision of Dr. Jie-Li Tsai.
I am currently collaborating with Dr. Chia-Lin Lee (NTU), Professor Jennifer Rodd (UCL), and Dr. Rachael Hulme (Heriot-Watt University) on a project investigating the influence of prior/existing vocabulary knowledge on new meaning learning across the lifespan. This project was initiated during my visit to the Word Lab at UCL from 2021 to 2022 and is jointly funded by the Taiwan National Science and Technology Council and the British Academy.
My research interests broadly encompass the neurocognitive and psychological processes of human languages. Leveraging various technologies (e.g., web-based behavioural experiment, eye tracking, EEG/ERPs, MEG, and fMRI), I investigate how humans process and learn syntactic and semantic information in both native and non-native languages. Hopefully my research contributes to understanding the dynamic interplay between language-specific and domain-general neural networks across individuals and throughout the lifespan.
