Be above the age of 18.
Does not have a R.O.C. citizenship and does not possess an overseas Chinese student status at the time of their application.
Is not currently a registered student at a Mandarin training center, nor has been a degree-seeking student at any university or college in Taiwan.
Is not simultaneously a recipient of any other scholarship or subsidy offered by Taiwan's government or any other educational institutions in Taiwan.
Is currently a full-time undergraduate or graduate student at one of our collaborating institutions. Please refer to this page.
Take at least 15 hours of Mandarin language courses offered by NTU Mandarin Language Center (CLD or ICLP)per week.
Participate in at least one event organized by the program, such as Hands Together, cultural activities, etc.
All program fees and tuition must be paid by the applicant.
Scholarship recipients will receive a monthly scholarship of NT$28,000 (approx. US $900).
Students must read and adhere to the Scholarship Guidelines.
Students will be awarded the scholarship for the total length of their attendance in the program at ICLP or CLD. For example, if students enroll in more than one quarter, then they will be eligible to receive scholarship for the entire duration.
Students are required to open a local bank account in Taiwan, where the scholarship will be deposited monthly, provided that attendance requirements are met.
The scholarship will be suspended for one month if a student has missed 20% or more of their classes (including excused absences) within a single month.
During the program, NTU reserves the right to take photographs of students for the purposes of promoting the program on the official website and other social media platforms. Photographs will not be used for commercial purposes.

Obtained a TOCFL Novice Level 2 (or higher) certificate are eligible for reimbursement of one round-trip economy class air ticket on the most direct route between their home country and Taiwan.

The subsidy only covers the most direct round-trip economy-class air ticket between the student’s home institution’s country and Taiwan. Only the ticket fare itself is subsidized. Any additional services purchased at your own expense—such as seat selection, extra baggage, priority boarding, or other add-ons—are not reimbursable.
Please submit the following documents to OIA within one week after your arrival by email:
Boarding pass (hard copy, photo, or screenshot of QR code)
Flight itinerary receipt or invoice (must include your name, round-trip itinerary, economy class status, and total amount paid)
TOCFL Novice Level 2 (or higher) certificate
Proof of entry into Taiwan (photo of entry stamp in your passport)
The subsidy will be issued in NTD and deposited directly into your Taiwanese bank account. We will provide further instructions on the payment process after you arrive.
