NTR DISTRICT MAP
NTR district is a district in coastal Andhra Pradesh, India. It is named after former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh N. T. Rama Rao. The district headquarters is located at Vijayawada.
The district was carved out of Krishna district on 4 April 2022. It consists of the existing Vijayawada revenue division along with Nandigama and Tiruvuru revenue divisions. The district has a total area of 3,316 square kilometres (1,280 sq mi) and a population of 2,218,591 as of 2011.
The district is bordered by Krishna district and Eluru districts on the east, Palnadu district and Guntur districts on the south, Suryapet district of Telangana state on the west and Khammam district of Telangana state on the north. The Krishna river flows towards east and acts as border with Palnadu district and Guntur district.
The district has a tropical climate. The summers are hot and humid, while the winters are mild. The average annual rainfall is about 1,000 mm (39 in).
The main agricultural crops in the district are paddy, cotton, maize, and pulses. The district is also home to a number of industries, including textiles, pharmaceuticals, and food processing.
The district has a number of tourist attractions, including the Kanaka Durga Temple, the Undavalli Caves, and the Amaravati Buddhist ruins.

The district is well-connected by road and rail. The National Highway 65 passes through the district, connecting Vijayawada with Hyderabad and Chennai. The district is also served by the Vijayawada railway station, which is an important junction on the South Central Railway network.
The district has a number of educational institutions, including the University of Vijayawada, the Acharya Nagarjuna University, and the Indian Institute of Information Technology, Vijayawada.
