3. Dr. Mahdy established a big research group at NSU after joining as an Assist. Prof. at ECE dept. in 2017. This group is named as: NSU OPTICS, MACHINE LEARNING AND BIOMEDICAL RESEARCH GROUP. It consists around 30 students (photo attached). In last 2.5 years, this group at NSU has published 11 peer reviewed international journals with high & moderate impact factor. The total impact factor of their 11 journals is around 55. Among these 11 journals, two articles have crossed the impact factor value 10 [i.e. Nature Publishing Group's Light: Science & Applications (impact factor over 14) and ACS Nano (impact factor around 14)].
4. Very recently Dr. Mahdy has been nominated by THE WORLD ACADEMY OF SCIENCE (TWAS) for highly prestigious 70th Lindau Nobel laureate meeting, 2020. Up to 80 Nobel Laureates and approximately 600 highly-talented young scientists from all over the world will participate in this meeting in Germany. 5. Dr. Mahdy won a very prestigious international grant: TWAS (The World ACADEMY of SCIENCE) grant in 2018 (in physical science & engineering). He has established a research lab at NSU, which consists very high configuration computers for simulations (photo attached).

Dr. Mahdy has been nominated for USERN prize 2019.USERN prize is an international award, established by USERN which is annually bestowed on scientists or researchers less than 40 years of age who have conducted a significant advancement or achievement in research, scientific education. The candidates will be refereed and scored by an international jury composed of Nobel laureates and top 1% scientists in the respective field accordingly to pre-planned scoring criteria (photo attached).
7. So far Dr. Mahdy has published 24 international peer reviewed journals with total impact factor of around 95 (among them, 5 articles are in Nature Pub Group). One of his articles was the cover story of the prestigious Q1 physics journal Annalen Der Physik in December 2015 issue (photo attachment). Notably, he is a pioneer in the field of near field optical binding force.

North South University is the number one private university in Bangladesh. NSU always influences their faculty members and students to perform research as their respective field of interest. To facilitate research works in different areas, the university provides seed grants to the faculty members. NSU allocated over 20 million Taka in 2018-2019 as internal research fund.10. 11. Dr. Mahdy received the NSU Research Excellence Award 2021. Twelve top researchers of NSU (three from each of the four schools) have been given honor, certificates and monetary rewards. The honorable Minister for Science and Technology - Architect Yeafesh Osman - handed over the NSU Research Excellence Award 2021 in the Main Auditorium of NSU.

Dr. Mahdy has been selected for the UGC (University Grants Commission - Bangladesh) Gold Medal Award 2018: Dr. Mahdy has been selected for the UGC Gold Medal Award for his outstanding research contribution in the category of Engineering and Physical Sciences. This prestigious award is handed over by the President of the People's Republic of Bangladesh.
