How much time I will have to devote as an NSS volunteer?

Total 240 hours social service in two years duration. Of which 20 hours for orientation course, 30 hour for campus work and remaining 70 hours for community services in a year. Further a seven-day special camp will be attended by the NSS Volunteer in the adopted village.


Will NSS have any adverse effect on my studies?

No. NSS will not have any sort of adverse effect on your studies rather it refines thinking/reasoning power yielding better result in studies.


Will I get some additional weightage during my admission in higher studies?

Yes, you can get additional weightage as decided by the Institution ranging.


What is an adopted village/slum?

Generally an NSS unit adopts a nearby village where certain projects are run by the NSS volunteers for the development of village.


What is NSS Diary?

Volunteers day-to-day regular work report and special camping report are recorded in a note book.


What is Day Camp?

To complete the 120 hours regular work during a year, a Unit can organize a day long programme of 8hours as a part of regular work.


Who is entitled to get NSS completion Certificate?

A Volunteer who has completed 240hrs (120hrs X 2yrs) regular activities and seven days special camp in adopted village is entitle to get NSS Certificate duly signed by Programme Officer, Principal of the College, Programme Co-ordinator and Vice Chancellor of the University where the college/institution is affiliated to.
