Ensure you meet the eligibility criteria for cross-enrollment as listed on the UCI registrar.
Determine which course you are interested in taking. Visit the school's schedule of classes and course offerings to find out the mode of instruction (e.g., online, in-person, hybrid) and time that best accommodates your schedule.
CSUs release class offerings and schedules far in advance. We recommend reaching out to instructors and the CSD department to see if they would be open to accommodating you as soon as possible, especially if there are prerequisites.
3. Find out the application submission period for the host campus.
This will typically be close to the time when major course restrictions lift and close to the start of the semester.
If it is not listed on the website, you can contact the host campus registrar by phone or email.
4. Once you register for classes for the upcoming term, obtain approval for cross-enrollment from UCI.
Both the academic advising office of your school and the registrar must sign off on the cross-enrollment form.
Email a form to the academic advising office with your portion of the document completed then email a copy of that document to the UCI registrar. You must be enrolled in 12+ units for the upcoming quarter before requesting approval from the registrar.
5. Reach out to the instructor or department offering the course and obtain a signature.
Be prepared to show evidence of completion of course prerequisites that may be required at the time of enrollment if you haven't done so already. The instructor/department might also ask for a course syllabus to confirm the appropriate coursework was completed.
6. Email the completed form to the UCI registrar's office and the registrar of the host campus.
The host campus might also have a form that they would like you to fill out on their end.
Tuition and additional enrollment fees will not be charged but there might be an application processing fee (usually not more than $50).
7. Complete the registration instructions from the host campus and enjoy the course! :)
