Getting involved in a committee offers valuable benefits for your personal and professional growth. It enhances your competitiveness for scholarships, internships, and job opportunities, while also allowing you to network with peers and professionals in the CSD field.
Additionally, serving on a committee can lead to leadership roles, such as becoming a Committee chair, which helps pave the way for future positions on the Executive Board. Most importantly, your active participation is crucial for our chapter's success in achieving its goals. We have multiple committees any member is encouraged to join, each with a different focus to further our initiatives.
The Membership Committee grows and maintains the Chapter’s membership base. If you join, you'll help create exciting strategies to attract new members, design eye-catching promotional materials, and collaborate with others to spread the word about our chapter. You’ll also get to plan fun events like our "Welcome Back" gathering and quarterly social activities. Plus, you’ll recognize and reward members, organize icebreakers, and keep the vibe lively and inclusive.
The Volunteering and Fundraising Committee connects our Chapter with local volunteer opportunities, helps members get involved, and highlights the impact of giving back. You’ll also get creative with fundraising, brainstorming fun event ideas, collaborating with other organizations, and hosting exciting fundraisers each quarter.
The Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Committee helps create a more inclusive and culturally aware community within our Chapter and the field of CSD. By joining, you’ll organize engaging events during cultural and heritage months, lead thought-provoking discussions, and educate members on supporting diverse populations in CSD. You'll advocate for equity, amplify underrepresented voices, and explore important topics like microaggressions and implicit bias.
The Public and Media Relations Committee is responsible for building and maintaining the organization’s presence online. The committee manages the Chapter’s social media accounts, creates engaging posts, promotes events, and connects with members, other UCI campus organizations, and nearby NSSLHA Chapters.
The Professional and Academic Success Committee prepares members for careers in the CSD field. Members share updates on career events, conferences, research opportunities, and internships. The committee organizes workshops, facilitates networking with alumni and professionals, and pairs members with mentors and study groups.
