!! WELCOMES YOU !!
The National Service Scheme, or NSS, was founded in 1969, during Gandhiji's centennial year which is an Indian government-sponsored flagship public service initiative currently administered by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports. It is a charitable group of young people that aims to build students' personalities through community service so as to instill in them a sense of social responsibility to serve society without prejudice. NSS volunteers work tirelessly to ensure that anyone in need receives assistance so as to live a dignified life. India is the nodal authority at the national level, and it collaborates with state-level NSS cells. The state governments are in charge of the NSS cells at the state level. Within each state, each university has an NSS cell that oversees institutions (schools and colleges) based NSS units. Volunteers of NSS unit are present in almost all government and government-aided institutions. A typical unit consists of 50-60 students. Internally, they are supervised by a responsible party from the school or college, who reports to the principal. NSS activities involve Regular Activities (120 hours) and Annual Special Camp (120 hours). The volunteers who manage to work with NSS for at least 2 years and have completed 240 hours of service are eligible to earn a certificate from the University for their indulgence with the Unit. The NSS Unit Deshbandhu College organises from time to time various activities and events to keep the volunteers active. These events include Raising Awareness for various social issues, Cleanliness Drives, Community Services, Diwali Mela, Annual Fest and so on. We look forward to hold many such events to create awareness in the society and help each and every person in need.

It gives me immense pleasure to address the readers from this platform. As a society, the NSS unit at Deshbandhu college has proved to be proactive in its endeavors. I have witnessed the active participation of staff members and students of the NSS unit in organizing innumerable activities with positive outcomes. The primary concern of the unit is to provide students with a platform to gain knowledge and learn new skills every day, thereby using their in-built skills most judiciously. The decision to launch this website is yet another achievement of the unit towards gathering the pieces of various activities conducted amid the pandemic situation and afterward.
I am convinced that if you work hard today with the NSS unit at Deshbandhu College, you will succeed in this competitive world that honors hard effort, ingenuity, perseverance, and teamwork.
Best wishes

Our NSS Unit of Deshbandhu stands as a pole that holds our country's tricolour flag high and makes it waver at its best vibrance.
Over the years, we have worked across various social backgrounds as a backbone of government initiatives to enrich the quality of life while boosting our country's patriotic sentiments. In 70 years of incredible college history, the Unit has actively contributed and worked hours in and out for the betterment of society through organising events such as Blood donation drives, Plantation drives, Donation drives, Yamuna Cleaning, Awareness Rallies and contributing as an important fulcrum in the celebration of Diwali Mela (Pradeepan) and annual Fest (Siddhi). From the Swachta Pakhwada to Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, Our NSS Unit attended an accomplishment of the mission with its unwavering efforts.
Furthermore, the NSS Unit Deshbandhu College also strives to deliver our student volunteers with hands-on experience, empower them with skills and give them a deeper awareness of the local communities so that they can further help society to develop. The NSS motto "Not me, but you” are a self-deliverer of our exultant nature of prioritizing others’ needs.
