About NSRS
The National Symposium of Research Scholars (NSRS) on Metallurgy and Materials is a prestigious annual event of our Department of Materials Science and Engineering (MSE), Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur. It is dedicated to fostering collaboration and knowledge sharing among budding researchers. Glimpses from NSRS-2024
NSRS-2024, held at IIT Kanpur from March 09-10, 2024, was a resounding success. Attracting over 150 participants and distinguished speakers from across India, the event provided a platform for research scholars to exchange ideas and elevate their research quality. Renowned experts delivered plenary lectures on cutting-edge advancements, while workshops offered hands-on experiences in state-of-the-art material science developments. Scholars from various institutions presented their work, enriching the symposium with diverse perspectives and fostering productive discussions. About our Department of Materials Science & Engineering, IIT Kanpur
Founded in 1960, the Department of Materials Science & Engineering at IIT Kanpur holds a prominent position among the nation's leading schools in Materials Science and Engineering. Initially named Metallurgical Engineering, the department introduced its postgraduate program in 1964. Over the years, it underwent a series of adaptions as per the need of the country and society, changing from Metallurgical Engineering to Materials and Metallurgical Engineering in 1993 and eventually transitioning to the Department of Materials Science and Engineering in 2009.
Throughout its history, the department has maintained a steadfast commitment to educating and fostering the intellectual growth of young minds. This commitment is realized through the provision of quality education with a strong emphasis on fundamental principles, facilitated by an interdisciplinary curriculum.
