Nilsa Carroll, MT-BC, is a Board Certified Music Therapist from Bayamón, Puerto Rico, who combines music, education, and a strengths-based approach to empower clients to heal, grow, and succeed.

Nilsa specializes in supporting neuro divergent youth, adults with dementia, and individuals in hospice care. She's passionate about early childhood music education, and teaches "Wiggles & Giggles", and "Melody Makers" for babies, toddlers, and preschoolers.

She is the owner of NPO Music, a music therapy and early childhood music education practice in Ocala, Florida.

Individual and Group Music Therapy

Music therapy services are available for small groups (4-10 people) and individuals. Services begin with an assessment session to establish rapport with clients and identify their cognitive, psychosocial, physical, and spiritual functioning and needs. The therapist engages the client(s) in music making, music listening and conversation to elicit responses to inform treatment planning. The therapist combines the information gathered with clients’ medical history, intake forms and family/caregiver/client concerns to determine and prioritize areas of need.

Goals and objectives are then outlined in a formal treatment plan. This plan is typed, then shared (and often co-designed) with clients, caregivers, and members of the care team. The plan is informally re-assessed during each encounter, and formally reassessed after a determined period of time. Documentation is completed during each session to support the goals and objectives outlined in the plan. The documentation form and treatment plan can be submitted to Step Up for Kids, and Sunshine healthcare to receive reimbursement.

These classes are designed for kids ages 0-5 and their caregivers. They offer fun, engaging sensory stimulation through music and movement, foster connection between children and their caregiver(s), and enhance motor, socioemotional, and language development.
