Bryce Canyon National Park Website

Bryce Canyon has been on my (Tom) list to visit for a long time.  In 2nd grade we had to write a book.  My book was Icicle Ivan, which was about a yeti or something who lived in Bryce Canyon.  I didn't even know if it snowed there, but it was in Utah so I was guessing it did.  Imagine my delight when we got into the park and there was 2 feet of snow on the ground and we even saw icicles!  Sadly no yetis.

We had planned on doing a couple hikes down into the canyon but the most famous hike, the navajo loop, was closed due to a rockslide, and the one at the far south end of the park was closed due to too much snow on the road.  We did get to hike the rim trail for a couple miles, the mossy cave trail, and the queen's garden.

The queen's garden trail was a fun trail down into the canyon.  It was cool to see the hoodoos from below, it was a nice change of view from the rim trail seeing everything from above.  The trail is named after one hoodoo that they called Queen Victoria because ..... it looks like Queen Victoria.

The weather was perfect and the crowds weren't too bad.  We were always able to find parking at the stops we wanted to go to and didn't have to resort to using the shuttle like I'm sure we would have if we had gone in the summer.  Overall it's a really beautiful park and we loved our time there.

This park rates at 4 out of 5 stars based on our standard criteria.

Rating Criteria: Fun, Scenic, Ease of Travel, Wildlife, Crowds
