The tropical grasslands of the Novicene are located on all continents that lay near or in the equator. These tropical grasslands range from extremely dry to extremely wet. All of them have a wet and dry seasons, but they vary on the level of rain and available water in the area. For example, the Southern Indian Grassland is more similar to a wetland when compared to the Great Australian Plain. All of them share some similarities however. All of them have grass as their main source of nutrient to the herbivores of their respective regions. Although, in some grasslands, trees are present, but they have adaptations that make them hard to consume. But, some creatures have found ways around these adaptations.
Tropical grasslands support most of the megafauna of the Novicene, and several of the heaviest and tallest animals live here. Birds, however, have reclaimed some of their megafaunal-status. Reptiles are also very common in these ecosystems due to the high amount of sunlight and hot temperatures. Insects are also very common here, but they have remained relatively conservative in terms of body plan, compared to the other organisms, which have evolved rapidly to fill the niches absent in the Holocene.
