Urgent Help needed: Care and Support provided by SHSG Welfare Trust

  1. Harjinder Singh suffers from polio, which has left both of his legs severely affected, resulting in 75% disability. He resides in a village near Ludhiana, Punjab, and works as a telephone operator at a gas agency, earning a monthly salary of INR 5,000. The agency is about 10 km from his home, and he requires a battery-operated tricycle, costing INR 48,000, for his daily commute.

  2. An accident victim from an underprivileged background, suffering multiple fractures in his arm, has been traveling by bus to PGI for medical tests. After enduring this helpless situation for eight months, he has now reached out to the trust for assistance. Once his surgery date is set, he will need INR 70,000 for medications, metal plates, screws, and other medical supplies.

  3. The trust is acquiring emergency service vehicles through sponsorships and requires INR 80,000 per vehicle to modify them into fully equipped ambulances with emergency response systems.

  4. The trust's ground team is providing care and treatment for spinal cord injury (SCI) patients at the SHSG Care Center. These patients are often turned away by hospitals, as nearly 90% are unable to walk or move, with many unable even to hold a spoon.

  5. Sajid, a 24-year-old from District Doda, Kashmir, is suffering from severe bedsores following a spinal cord injury he sustained eight months ago. For the past several months, his parents have been battling tirelessly for his survival. Despite their efforts, the family is sinking deeper into debt, and doctors have little hope left. However, Sajid's compassionate fellow villagers have come together to pool in funds for his travel to Chandigarh. From there, the SHSG ground team will take over and provide the critical care he desperately needs.

Gratitude

Patient support transportation by Indian Oil

Corporate Social Responsibility by Indian Oil

SHSG center received a generous donation of medical equipment valued at approximately $15,000 USD for the third floor from Indian Oil under their CSR initiative. This donation includes essential items such as hospital beds, ICU beds, 75 medical-grade mattresses, 3 ICU monitors, a spine decompression machine, and more. In addition, they received an ambulance. We are deeply thankful for this support, which will significantly enhance the care and services SHSG center is able to provide [March 2025].

Individual Voluntary Contributions

SHSG is truly grateful for the unwavering support of the individual contributors who are the true force behind the use, upkeep, and growth of its facilities, embodying the very soul of this mission. Your dedication fuels this life-changing seva. This is not charity—this is Dharma in action, and we thank you for being an important part of this journey.
