As to be expected, she needed time to catch up.. especially since she has been awkwardly tall since birth and flipping those legs didn't exactly come naturally. Three years ago, she almost quit. Lori Whetstone-  "Sam is a first year Nova athlete. She was with another team before this one and she never seemed to fit in or feel welcomed by that team. She wasn't pushed to improve her skills; in fact, I would even argue she may have been held back. Since joining the Nova family.. and it really is a family.. Sam has found her place! This team has made her feel so welcome and supported. Her skills are improving all the time and I can't wait to see what these coaches are able to get her to accomplish in the next few years! Katrina Michaels- "My daughter has been an all-star cheerleader under the direction of Coach Makayla for 4 years and Coach Jess for 2 years. Everything Alyssa has accomplished I owe to Coach Makayla. Countless hours spent in the gym working on tumbling skills and every failed stunt practiced over and over until it hits. Every achievement celebrated. Life-long friendships formed because your team trusts you with their life. The coaching staff is amazing. They work well together and share the same dream for these athletes. Christine Calderwood- "There is so much to say about these guys. My daughter started cheering 2 years ago. Her first year she was so quiet, shy and scared to start a new thing without her friends on her team. Coach Makayla and Coach Jess broke her out of her shell and made her the cheerleader she is today. I couldn't think of two better coaches. They are so compassionate and patient with the girls, they lay the rules and make sure the girls abide by them but also make sure they are having fun at the same time. Kimberly Williams- "Makayla and Jess have been doing cheer for most of their lives including school, college, and competitive. They are very organized, easy to talk to, and always open to suggestions. My girls have cheered for them for years and have enjoyed every second of it. Makayla and Jess are great role models for the girls. They are strict, but they only want the girls to see the best in themselves, and still make the practices fun.
