1 Grant Microphone Permission
When prompted, tap "Allow" to enable voice recording
Without this permission, you won't be able to record notes
You can change this later in iOS Settings → Notie AI → Microphone
2 Record Your First Note
Tap and hold the microphone button at the bottom
Speak clearly while holding the button
Release when finished
The app will automatically transcribe your audio

Q: Is Notie AI free?
A: Notie AI offers both free and premium versions. The free version includes basic voice recording and transcription. Premium unlocks unlimited recordings, advanced AI features, and priority support.
Q: What languages does Notie AI support?
A: Notie AI supports 50+ languages including English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Dutch, Polish, Russian, Japanese, Chinese, Korean, Arabic, and many more. The app automatically detects your language.
Q: Do I need an internet connection?
A: Yes, you need an internet connection for voice transcription and AI features (summaries, organization, chat). Your notes are stored locally, so you can view them offline.
Q: Where are my notes stored?
A: All your notes are stored locally on your device. We do not store your notes on our servers. This means your notes are private and secure, but you should export them regularly as a backup.
Q: Can I use Notie AI on multiple devices?
A: Currently, Notie AI stores notes locally on each device. We're working on cloud sync for future updates. For now, use the export feature to transfer notes between devices.
Q: How do I record a note?
A: Tap and hold the microphone button, speak your note, then release. Do not just tap—you must hold the button while speaking.
Q: Why isn't my voice being recorded?
A: Check these:
Microphone permission is enabled (Settings → Notie AI → Microphone)
You're holding the button (not just tapping)
Your microphone isn't blocked or covered
Try restarting the app
Q: Why is the transcription inaccurate?
A: To improve transcription accuracy: speak clearly at a moderate pace, minimize background noise, hold the phone closer to your mouth, check your internet connection, and try recording in shorter segments.
Q: Can I edit transcriptions?
A: Yes! Tap any note to open it, then tap the edit button to modify the transcribed text.
Q: What happens to my audio recordings?
A: Audio files are temporarily stored on your device during transcription, then automatically deleted. We do not keep copies of your audio.
Q: What AI features are available?
A: Notie AI offers:
Auto-transcription: Convert speech to text
Smart Summaries: Get concise summaries of long notes
Auto-organization: Automatic folder suggestions
AI Chat: Ask questions about your notes
Title Generation: Automatic note titles
Organization Suggestions: Batch organize multiple notes
Q: How do I use the AI chat?
A: Tap the "Ask AI" button on the home screen. Ask questions like: "What did I note about the meeting?", "Create a shopping list note", or "Summarize my notes from this week".
Q: Is my data used to train AI models?
A: No. According to OpenAI's policy, data sent through their API is not used to train models. Your data is retained for 30 days for abuse monitoring, then deleted.
Issue: App crashes when opening or using features
Solutions:
Force quit and restart the app
Restart your device
Check for app updates in the App Store
Free up device storage (Settings → General → iPhone Storage)
Reinstall the app (note: this will delete local notes)
Issue: Microphone button doesn't work
Solutions:
Check microphone permission: Settings → Notie AI → Microphone → Allow
Check if another app is using the microphone
Test your microphone in another app (Voice Memos)
Restart your device
Make sure you're holding the button, not just tapping
Issue: Transcription fails or shows error
Solutions:
Check your internet connection
Try again in a few minutes (OpenAI service may be busy)
Record shorter segments (under 2 minutes)
Check if you have sufficient storage space
Restart the app
Issue: Premium features not working after purchase
Solutions:
Restart the app to refresh subscription status
Check your purchase in Settings → [Your Name] → Subscriptions
Make sure you're signed into the same Apple ID used for purchase
Wait a few minutes for verification to complete
Contact Apple Support if payment was processed but features locked
How to record:
Tap and hold the microphone button
Speak your note clearly
Release to stop recording
Wait for transcription to complete
Tips for best results:
Hold phone 6-12 inches from your mouth
Speak at normal conversational pace
Minimize background noise
Record in segments for long notes
Basic editing:
Tap any note to open it
Tap the edit icon (pencil) to modify text
Use the formatting toolbar for bold, italic, lists
Tap outside to save changes
Auto-organization:
Enabled by default for new notes
AI suggests the best folder automatically
You can accept or change the suggestion

Export formats:
Text: Plain text, compatible everywhere
