I am a data scientist, musician, and educator by training, currently pursuing a PhD at the Sound and Music Computing Lab at the National University of Singapore under the supervision of Prof. Wang Ye.

My area of interest lies at the intersection where data and humanistic pursuits meet - in exploring how patterns and structures may be gleaned from domains traditionally thought of as qualitative and subjective, and in turn, how these structures can then be used for growth and education.

My recent work has been focused on advancing architectures and methods for automatic music generation as an extension of data modeling applied to symbolic music, which is informed by my experiences as a musician and past work in Natural Language Processing and acoustics. I also have an interest in working on polyphonic music transcription, which would pair well with symbolic music generation to develop better intelligent tutoring systems for music.

As part of a team in the Sound and Music Computing Lab, I have also been working on developing pitch detection and automatic speech evaluation methods, in the context of language learning. Our team has developed a web app using these technologies for conducting human-computer interaction (HCI) research informed by my past work in education, curriculum and policy development, and pedagogical theory. My primary role in the team lies in developing audio processing methods and designing and conducting HCI research grounded in Learning Sciences principles.
