In math, we’re continuing our unit on multiplication and division. Students will take their unit assessment on Friday. There is no need to study at home—we’ll review everything together in class so students feel well-prepared and confident.
This week we’re continuing our Wonders reading curriculum. Our focus question is: “How do people from different communities contribute to a community?”
We’ll be reading a new story titled Gary the Dreamer. Students will practice finding text evidence, responding to reading questions, and building skills in chronology and text features (such as maps and headings).
Last week, students completed a pre-assessment based on a reading about ants. This week, we’re diving into the writing process using some helpful anagrams from the Think SRSD curriculum:
POWER (Plan, Organize, Write, Edit, Revise)
TIDE (Title, Information, Details, End)
We’ll read a passage about animals and their characteristics, then write a GIST statement (a short summary of the main idea).
This week we’ll wrap up our unit on Citizenship: Rights and Responsibilities. Students will take their end-of-unit assessment on Monday. After that, we’ll begin a new unit on Local Government, exploring the roles of mayors, judges, laws, and how different parts of government work together.
