SUPPORT THE NORTH DRAMA DEPARTMENT!

Part of the Mission Statement of the Viking Players is centered around working together, because we know that we are ALWAYS stronger together. That's why we need YOU. Your support of us, our shows, our goals, our needs is our biggest indicator of success.  

The Drama Department is one of those departments that requires A LOT to keep moving. Props, costumes, set pieces (or the parts to build sets), scripts, performance rights, crafting materials, printed marketing items all cost money, and they are needed for EVERY SINGLE SHOW. It adds up fast. So we are always fundraising and always asking for your help to make the magic!

WAYS TO SUPPORT:

1. FINANCIAL DONATION! At every show, we've got donation boxes, bins and bags for those cash donations! They are our life blood and make it all possible. We also accept checks (if you are old-school), and we are working on a consistent online donation platform.

2. A DRAMATIC WISH LIST! North MS Drama has an Amazon Wish List! On this list is all kinds of things that we need for our classroom, props and costumes for plays and supplies for students to use and create with. 

3. PROPS/COSTUMES - We are always accepting donations of costumes and props. So before you donate to the ARC or Goodwill, consider North Middle School Drama!

WILL MY STUDENT DO A PLAY?

UNDERSTANDING ROYALTY FEES IN THEATRE! 

Every show that we do, even those we perform in-class, we have to purchase rights to the script, which is called a royalty.

A royalty is a fee that pays the playwright for their creativity and hard work. These can range from $25-250 PER performance, with scripts being an additional per-script or per-print fee. That means a class play would cost my department $400-600 JUST for the scripts and rights, not costumes, props or sets.

Your financial donations (including ticket sales) very often go towards covering those fees so that the Viking Players can have fresh, amazing new scripts to work with.
