Annual results reports - Throughout the year, information is gathered and broken down at the end of the year in an annual results report. This is how counselors determine the steps, goals, effectiveness, and impact the program is having or could be having.
By conducting our own field-based research, we have gain experience and knowledge surrounding how effective other programs are.
-Listed below is an example of how some responses accurately depict what must be assessed for growing success.
Needs assessments must be conducted to determine where improvements can be made. The information obtained will assist with how to best allocate resources. Resources could be anything from teachers, money, buildings, classrooms, or time.
With collaboration being an essential tool in our program, we are able to work with all other stakeholders, outside resources, and students to effectively conduct the five steps in this assessment cycle.
Using a school data summary form allows counselors to identify resources to assist with the collect and breakdown of data. This form allows for the administrative team to collaborate on enhancing the school improvement plan.
All the decisions that are made within the school counseling program are directly correlated to the information that is obtain throughout the year among many different forms. These forms may include, but are not limited to:
Existing Data
Attendance
Graduation rates

Using the ASCA mindsets and behaviors as a foundation for the curriculum of the school counseling program allows for development of knowledge, attitude and skills that students need to accomplish academic success, college and career readiness and social/emotional growth
As counselors, we utilize a results report within our program throughout the year to determine:
Mindsets and behaviors are being properly addressed,
Is the curriculum effective?
Time spent directly with students

Social/Emotional health and overall well-being is a priority for counselors at Northland Schools. Using surveys and risk assessments, we are able to incorporate outside resources, conversations, and action plans to offer them the best opportunities in dynamic situations.

Our counselors also take part in professional development trainings surrounding their own well-being.
Using the conference with the administrative team allows for identification of time spent with direct and indirect services, goals and expectations to be set for the upcoming year, professional development plans, any requests or needs of the counselors to apply themselves appropriately, and any other information that should be addressed so the entire staff is collaborating together.
Never ending self-assessment must occur to ensure the counselors adhere to ASCA's professional standards and competencies. This grounds the counselors throughout the development, management, assessment, and implementation of the data-informed school counseling program
This also is recognized within the annual administrative conference and the performance assessment
Continued self-assessment must be completed to remain persistent in growing the counselor's knowledge, attitude and skills.
Completing an annual performance assessment with feedback conducted by an administrator will allow for an outside perspective towards growth opportunities and areas that a counselor excels.
