MESSAGE FROM NHNPA PRESIDENTMS. VANESSA BETTS
It was so nice to be able to enjoy our last meeting of the year with members and surrounding neighborhood association guests. We were able to have a visual recap of the past year's engagement and events. The video was produced by Varonica Alexander as a recognition of the association's accomplishments. We also enjoyed delicious Filipino cuisine from Sarah Osterland, Yummy. and a very informal but useful information from Jaye Nicholson concerning fire safety. He shared with us some very practical and common sense safety guidelines. One big question he asked was, "how many people have fire extinguishers in their house, and how many people know how to use it"? That question sparked an open conversation of how vulnerable we are in our own environment due to lack of knowledge.
It is always good to see members being involved in the worthy and cheritable causes outside of the North Hills Neighborhood Association. Thank you Freddie Couffie for participating in the "Walk a Mile in her Shoes event," which gives awareness to domestic violence each year and is sponsored by the YWCA.
Although this was our last meeting of the year, we look forward to future outreach and endeavors for the duration of 2026. Lead by example and continue to be a good neighbor engaging in things that will bring positivity to the community. We will be assisting the Masons at their yearly Halloween candy giveaway, held at fire station 30 on Martin Luther King.
