Outreach 24-25

As a team, we aim to spread the message of FIRST and STEM to the community to foster engagement in FIRST robotics programs and clubs. Our main way of doing so is by reaching out to schools, experts in many fields of work, and the community around us to seek advice and spread FIRST and STEM.

Technical Outreach 2025

Working with a Professional Photographer for Team Photos

This season, we decided to have professional headshots and a team photo taken for our Engineering Portfolio and website. We connected with a professional photographer who was willing to assist us. We had the opportunity to utilize a professional studio with industry-grade equipment. During the session, we learned a lot about shot framing, lighting, and camera operation. We appreciate the opportunity to work with a local business expert and gain valuable insights into this technical field.

Outreach with K Corp Reliance Company

This year we had the opportunity to connect with K-Corp Reliance Company. We were able to discuss what we do with FTC and the specifics of the field of petroleum engineering and risk management. We also discussed code and got to explore different fields of engineering and mechanics. We plan to meet again in 2026 to discuss further help.

Community Outreach 24-25

Robotics Camp 2024

This was an idea that could lead to a potential change in the world. This one-day camp consisted of a five-hour day of building, coding, and team building. We had 12 kids in attendance and most of the kids were ages 13 and older. The kids learned how to work as a team, build and code a robot from scratch, and also compete as a team.

Alaska State Fair 2024

Every year at the Alaska State Fair we are asked to demonstrate at the Tech Day. We bring our team and our robot along. We bring a field and let the community interact with the robot and that year's FTC game. We work alongside other FLL and FTC teams to showcase FIRST and Gracious Professionalism to others.

Arctic Thunder Air Show

We were invited to attend and present our robot at the 2024 Arctic Thunder Air Show on JBER in Anchorage. We told the community about our robot design, and game strategy, and demonstrated the opportunities provided by FIRST. We also used this event as an opportunity to recruit for our Robotics Camp.

Assisting Academy Charters FLL Team

We believe that being a helpful asset to other teams both in FTC and FLL shows both Gracious Professionalism and FIRST attributes. Having connections with Academy Charter School’s FLL team, The Cyberian Huskies, has allowed us to both mentor and help them prepare for competition. We assist the team by looking over their engineering portfolio, helping with design and attachments, and acting as mock judges for their presentations.

FIRST Demonstrations to Two Elementary Schools

We believe that inspiring young engineers is a crucial part of getting them involved in STEM and FIRST. We had the opportunity to demonstrate FIRST and STEM to Pioneer Peak Elementary and Cotton Wood Creek Elementary. We showed them what robotics is and let them interact with our robot. This was a great way to drive community engagement in FIRST programs as Pioneer Peak showed interest in starting an FLL team in the future.

Volunteering at FLL Tournaments

Volunteering has always been a good way for us to connect to the FIRST community. As a team, we always strive to take part in the annual FLL tournaments. We do whatever is needed: refereeing, set up, clean up, field set up, etc. We think that this is a great way to show support for these young engineers.

Adopt A Highway

This year, we were looking to explore new ways to promote Colony Robotics and FIRST to the public. In partnership with Colony Robotics, our team has adopted a highway. Through this initiative, we will regularly clean up litter and maintain the highway. Additionally, we have had the opportunity to promote FIRST through advertising on roadside signs, allowing us to serve both our community and our city.
