Northern Chess Club (NCC) distributes tournament prizes after final results have been confirmed and any necessary fair-play review has been completed.
Prize Notification
Prize winners will be contacted using the email address provided during tournament registration. Winners are responsible for providing accurate payment information and responding to any payment-related requests from NCC.
Prize Claim Deadline
Prize winners should claim their prize and provide valid payment information within 7 calendar days of NCC sending the initial prize notification.
If a winner does not claim the prize within the applicable period, the following policy applies:
Within 7 days: Winner remains eligible for the full prize amount.
More than 7 days but within 30 days: The prize may be reduced by $5 CAD due to delayed claiming and additional payment administration.
More than 30 days: The prize will be considered unclaimed and will no longer be available.
The 30-day period begins on the date NCC sends the initial prize notification.
Failed or Returned Payments
If NCC attempts to send a prize but the payment cannot be completed because of incorrect information, an account setting, an unaccepted transfer, or another issue involving the recipient's payment method, NCC will contact the winner using the registration email address.
The winner is responsible for responding with corrected payment information as soon as possible. The original prize-claim deadline will continue to apply unless NCC determines that the payment failure was caused by an error on NCC's side.
Payment Processing
NCC will normally attempt to issue prizes within a reasonable period after the tournament results have been finalized.
If a delayed prize claim requires NCC to retrieve or reconcile funds from a completed tournament, processing may take an additional 2–3 business days after valid payment information is received.
International Players
Players outside Canada who cannot receive Canadian e-Transfers may contact NCC to arrange an available alternative payment method, such as PayPal.
Any transaction or currency-conversion fees charged to the recipient or sender by a third-party payment service may be the responsibility of the recipient unless NCC states otherwise.
Fair Play & Prize Eligibility
Prize payments may be temporarily held while a legitimate fair-play review is ongoing. A player who is disqualified for a confirmed violation of applicable tournament or fair-play rules may lose eligibility for tournament prizes in accordance with NCC tournament rules.
Acceptance of Policy
By registering for an NCC tournament, players acknowledge and accept the prize payment and claim policy published for that event.
