Northern Chess Club is allowing eligible players to redeem previously earned NCC tournament-entry awards and discount coupons for the NCC October Rapid 2026.
This includes eligible coupons earned through previous NCC events, including the NCC Grand Swiss 2026.
However, the following conditions apply.
Players may use a maximum of one coupon or tournament-entry award toward this tournament.
Players cannot combine multiple discounts, coupons, or free-entry awards.
For example:
A player with a 40% discount and a 30% discount cannot combine them to receive 70% off.
The player must choose one eligible discount.
Players who earned free tournament entries from previous NCC events may use one free entry for this tournament.
If a player has two free-entry awards available, only one will be redeemed. The remaining award may be saved for another eligible NCC tournament, subject to its validity terms.
Percentage discounts are calculated using the entry fee in effect when the player registers.
For example, if a player registers at the regular $10 entry fee:
30% OFF: Player pays $7.00 CAD
40% OFF: Player pays $6.00 CAD
50% OFF: Player pays $5.00 CAD
100% Free Entry: Player pays $0.00 CAD
All coupons must be valid, unused, and eligible for this event.
Players must indicate their coupon or tournament-entry award when completing the registration form.
NCC will verify the award before confirming registration.
Coupons have no cash redemption value and cannot be transferred unless NCC has specifically authorized the transfer.
IMPORTANT: Only ONE coupon may be used. Coupons cannot be combined under any circumstances.
The NCC October Rapid 2026 will allocate 50% of actual collected registration revenue toward cash prizes.
Unlike the NCC Grand Swiss, which featured a larger annual prize allocation, this event follows NCC's regular tournament prize structure.
Both sections will have their own prize funds.
50% of registration revenue collected from O1700 players will go toward O1700 prizes.
50% of registration revenue collected from U1700 players will go toward U1700 prizes.
Registration revenue is calculated after any applicable discounts or free-entry awards.
As more players register and pay, the available cash prize fund may increase.
The NCC October Rapid O1700 will feature prizes for:
1st Place – Cash Prize + 1 Free Entry to Next NCC Tournament.
2nd Place – Cash Prize + 50% off Entry to Next NCC Tournament.
3rd Place – Cash Prize
The exact prize amounts will be announced after registration closes.
The NCC October Rapid U1700 will feature prizes for:
1st Place – Cash Prize + 30% Off Entry To Next NCC Tournament
2nd Place – Cash Prize
3rd Place – Cash Prize
The exact prize amounts will be announced after registration closes.
The number of paid places may be adjusted if a section has insufficient paid registrations. NCC will announce the final prize structure before play begins.
All participants must follow the applicable CFC tournament regulations, Lichess fair-play policies, and Northern Chess Club tournament rules.
Players must compete using their own registered Lichess accounts.
The use of chess engines, outside assistance, computer analysis, or other unauthorized resources during games is strictly prohibited.
Players must not receive assistance from another person while their games are in progress.
All participants are expected to demonstrate appropriate sportsmanship and respect toward opponents and tournament organizers.
Players are responsible for joining their assigned Lichess tournament before the scheduled start.
Players must compete only in the section for which they have been approved and registered.
A player who joins the wrong section may be required to withdraw and enter the correct tournament.
Any suspected cheating, inappropriate conduct, or violation of tournament rules may be investigated by NCC.
Players found responsible for serious violations may be removed from the tournament and disqualified from receiving prizes, subject to applicable rules and review.
The NCC October Rapid 2026 is intended to be officially CFC Quick Rated.
Both the O1700 and U1700 tournaments will use a time control of 10 minutes plus a 5-second increment per move.
Following the completion of both tournaments, Northern Chess Club will prepare and submit the results to the Chess Federation of Canada for rating processing.
The final rating updates will be available once the CFC processes and publishes the tournament results.
Players must provide accurate CFC membership information when registering.
Please note: Tournament results and unofficial Lichess standings may be available immediately after the event, while official CFC rating updates may take additional time.
Registration is considered a commitment to participate in the NCC October Rapid 2026.
